Welcome & Introduction – Rob Cowan & Sharon Al-Uqdah:

Rob & Sharon thanked the cabinet members for being involved in the campaign this year.  Each member in attendance introduced themselves and their management/labor counterparts.   

 

Labor Cabinet Update – Sharon Al-Uqdah:

·         Reported on the Union Partnership Meeting held on April 27th

·         The purpose of the Union Partnership Council is to secure the support of representatives from more than 20 area federal employee unions.

·         Up-dating of the Union Listing is an on-going process

·         Labor Division Co-Chairs with make peer calls on the Bargaining Units in their area.  Labor Co-Coordinators were to be encouraged in all Agency Head Calls

·         Upcoming meeting will take place in July.    

   

Agency Head Training & Calls – each Division Chair:
Mike Jaromin (DHS-CIS) reported that he attended the Agency Head Training at the Sherwood Center and found it to be very helpful and worthwhile. 

 

Each Division was asked to report out on their progress on contacting the Agency Heads in their respective Divisions.  

      Division 0:

                                    ·          Gary Beets, FMS and Lee Cason, IRS, are in the process of setting up agency head visits.   No visits have been completed as of yet.

                                    ·          Lee Cason, IRS, will be the LE for this division.

                        Division 1:  

·         Mike Jaromin (DHS-CIS) had made numerous calls to encourage participation at the Leaders Breakfast.  A Loaned Executive has been committed from EPA, but no name has been submitted.

                        Division 2:

·         Ethel Johnson (SSA) and Team Leaders from Social Security  & HHS are in the process of setting up agency head visits. 

·         There are two Team Leaders from Social Security and Fred Schuster from Dept of Health & Human Services will be making these calls. 

·         Pat Clyma (SSA) will be the LE for this division

 Division 3:

·         Mokhtee Ahmad (FTA) and Debbie Danner (FAA), will  have scheduled remaining agency head visits, to be completed by the end of June.

·     Debbie Danner (FAA) will be the LE for this division.

 Division 4:

·          Bill Turbitt and Matt Mitchell (USDA) are working these accounts.

            No visits have been completed as of yet, but are actively making calls to encourage attendance at the May 25th Breakfast.

·          Matt Mitchell (USDA), will be the LE for this division.

 Division 5:

·          Will report at next meeting.

·          Terry Penland and Carla Clay (USPS), will be the LE’s for this division.

 Division 6:

·          Mike Anthony (USMC) and Ed Kolodziej  (USACE) are making these calls.

·               No appointments have been set up, but the bulk will be called the first part of June.  They have already mailed letters to every agency

·          Ed Kolodziej (USACE) will be the LE for this division.

 

·          An Agency Head Breakfast has been scheduled for May 25th.  35 agencies in the population of 50 to 499 employees have been invited.  Agency Heads in attendance will receive a customized packet of material that provides information on their agency’s past CFC results (participation, funds raised, etc.)

 ·                     Division Chairs should follow-up on those agency heads who were invited to the Leaders breakfast.

·                     Spreadsheets for tracking accounts will be sent out for completion by the Division Chairs & Loaned Executives. 

·                     All completed Agency Head Agenda forms should be sent back to Larry.

·                     Goals for each Division and overall CFC goal will be done at the July CFC Cabinet Meeting.

·          Agency Head Call Sheets need to have the campaign coordinator identified by late May/early June.

·          Get commitment from the agency head.

·          Identify agencies who have employees that are retiring, early outs or layoffs.

   

Committee Reports:

          Awards & Recognition – Larry Hisle for Nadine Johnson
The cabinet was reminded of what was approved at the April Cabinet meeting and a PowerPoint was presented on the items

                         ·         Spirit Towel as the Rally Gift

·         5’ tape measure for all Coordinators and Canvasser

·         Lunchbox Set as a post gift to the Coordinators

·         Give Smart Card for all Donors

·         Pillar Club Pins for 1% or $390 Donors

·         Commander Coins for 2% or $650 Donors

·         Crystal Eagles for Eagle Donors

 These items have been reviewed and have been ordered. 

   

          Communications –Larry Hisle for Patrick Bustos

             The Communications Committee met for the second time on April 26th.

We would like to remind the cabinet that “Hope Lives … When You Give” is our

theme for this year. 

 The Committee is working on designs for the catalog, which when narrowed down will send out to all cabinet members for comment. 

            We will begin filming for the local piece for the video.  Some areas which we hope to cover: 

·         Day of Caring volunteer events

·         Check presentation at Sherwood Center

·         Activities at local non-profits

·         Golf Tournaments, SSA’s Golf Tournament Event on June 19th at St Andrew’s Golf Course; Buck O’Neil will be the special guest

·         Special Olympics Games in Wichita

                      Eligibility Status –Samm Skare

·         Eligibility Committee has completed its review for this year.

·         The final review of appeals was Thursday, May 18th.  There is still a possibility of appeals going to OPM in Washington .

·         This year we had 24 volunteers from various federal agencies served on the committee.

·         This year we had a total of 321 local agencies approved to be included in the campaign.

P.S.  At the May 18th Eligibility Meeting, 4 appeals from applications which were not approved, were reviewed again.  All 4 decisions for sustained.  The order of the federations and local un-affiliated was randomly drawn and will be listed in the following order in the 2006 Catalog for Caring.

Events – Larry Hisle:

·          Kick-off

·          The Kick-off Committee met on Tuesday, May 16th

·                     We do need to do some recruiting to boost the numbers of volunteers for

this activity.

·                     The planned date for this event is Wednesday, September 20th  once again

 at the Ilus Davis Park in downtown Kansas City

·                     Christine Allen, GSA is chairing this committee this year.

·                     The plan is to invite those committee members back who participated last

year, or ask for replacements.  We also will be inviting volunteers from

the federal agencies to participate this year.

·                     More detailed information will be available at the next meeting.

 

·          Golf Tournament

·         CFC Championship Golf Tournament has been scheduled for October 9th

 (Columbus Day).

·         Tim Gosnell form GSA is once again helping us with this.

·         We are hoping to have Eagle’s Landing host this again.

·         Save-the-date messages will be sent to all campaign coordinators.

·         More detailed information will be available at the next meeting.

 

·          Training Committee - Recruitment & Workshops – Nadine Johnson & Melvin Hawkins

            ·          Melvin Hawkins and Nadine Johnson have agreed to co-chair this committee. 

·                     Campaign Coordinators’ names need to be identified by the end of May/June.      

·          Two Campaign Coordinator trainings are coming up on August 2nd at Alphapointe and on August 10th at The Gem Theater.

·                     Will be changing the format on both workshops.   A powerpoint    presentation will be part of the training.  

LE Training

·          CFC LE Training will be done separately again this year from United Way

·                     Need to Complete and confirm training locations for the Loaned Executive training.

·          The following Speakers are needed for the LE Training – Sales Training, Communication Skills, and Marketing Skills.

·          Former LE’s will be used as Speakers.

Other Discussion

 Agency Head Breakfast

Discussed earlier in the meeting.  A special agency head breakfast has been scheduled for May 25th at the Phillips Hotel in downtown Kansas City .  We have identified 35 accounts to invite to this event.  We will present to the accounts in attendance a Vision of CFC and secure their support for the 2006 campaign. 

 CFC Regulations Meeting

When the complete regulation changes are released, it was suggested to have a special meeting regarding these proposed changes.

Day of Caring Update

·          Currently have 56 federal agencies and labor groups at 79 locations volunteering for Day of Caring.

·          Day of Caring is Saturday, June 24th.

 

CFC Catalog & Materials

The Catalog was discussed and a motion was made to go away from the bonded Catalog to a newspaper tabloid lay out. 

The pledge card was discussed and a decision to create a larger pledge card was made (1/2 page vs. 1/3) and to retain the cover for the pledge card.

                       

Sponsorships for 2006 Campaign

·          A request has been made to GEHA to sponsor the CFC Victory Awards Breakfast. 

Ps.  GEHA has responded and agreed to support us again this year

·          A request has been made to Blue Cross and Blue Shield to be a sponsor for our Kick-off.

·          Letters have been sent out to hotels requesting donations for the upcoming campaign.

·                     Cabinet Members are urged to share ideas of possible sponsors for this year
