Communication Meeting
June 21st

We held our Communication's Committee Meeting on June 21st at GSA. Here is what was discussed:

· Local Film: Viewed national and discussed how the local video would fit

a. We will have two days of filming, July 18th with the FEB and another undetermined date in July for Sandra Champion-Jones and Rodger Matthews at EPA

b. Quo created a script from the video and Larry rewrote it for our use. (attached) Gail and Larry will go through and add the staging scenes for filming

c. The scene setting will take place in the FEB classroom and the students will be the FEB. (Pending approval from the FEB.) Main characters will be Sandra Champion-Jones and Rodger Matthews discussing what they/you can do to support CFC.

d. We would like to use the cabinet as extras that day.

· Graphic Design: Purpose to create graphics to brand and market the Heartland

a. CFC Theme used in catalog, newsletters, posters and on the website.

b. The (attached) version was selected by the cabinet.

c. This will be immediately used ordering pledge cards, poster and other campaign items

d. Discussed also creating a Recognition Certificate with Graphic

· Flat Stanley Project

a. The cost is much more than originally anticipated.

b. Toni took a photo of Larry to see if USDA’s print shop could blow this up to proper proportions

c. Reminded committee that we need people to be a Flat Stanley and provide testimonials.

· Newsletters:

We had hoped to have a newsletter out in late May/early June focusing on Day of Caring recruitment, but there was a delay, so the first newsletter will additional issues each month Aug through Nov during campaign; and a close out issue in Jan

We need your help on putting together the first newsletter for July.

Here are the Newsletters Key areas and some suggestions to write about

1. Standard Dates – Larry will take care

2. Reactive Story - Day of Caring – Larry will take care.

3. What's new in CFC - Open – maybe talk about the new five digit codes or the merger of the CFC’s

4. Success Story – Open – find a story or edit one on the website

5. Why CFC - CFC Facts – Open

6. Coming Soon Section – Open – Flat Stanley, Kick-off, Film?

Please pick one to write about. Three paragraphs at the most is all you need to write. Articles must be in by Monday, July 9th. Thanks for your help

Other Issues:

· Web Site: We will be redesigning the current page using 2007 theme and visuals and keep updated during campaign. The website will need to be approved by the LFCC in the fall. New Graphic Design will added immediately.

o Share your story on the Web- the ability to add a blog on the website

· Special Events/ Federal Employee Appreciation Nights: We currently have two specials going on with the Royals & the Wizards. We are also working with Ticketdeals Networks to establish a ticket discount system

· Online Pledging: We are researching some options with several other CFC’s on an online system. Requested assistance with IT people to view the online pledge version.
