CFC Communications Committee Minutes

Tuesday, May 1, 2007 / 10 a.m.

GSA Bannister Complex

   

Attendees:  Larry Hisle, Gail Allen, Toni Castro, Cara Christanson, Quo Tyler & Clarence Lierz

1.      Subcommittees Discussion / Determine Leads

 

v      Local Film:  View national and discuss local video

a.      The Team viewed the national video and discussed our options to use part or none of it. 

b.      A decision was made to use the generic parts/graphics and tape our own version. 

c.      Quo created a script from the video and Larry rewrote it for our use.

d.      The scene setting will take place in the FEB classroom and the students will be the FEB.  (Pending approval from the FEB.)  Main characters will be Sandra Champion-Jones and Rodger Matthews discussing what they/you can do to support CFC.

e.      Filming location will be at the EPA, hopefully at the July 18 FEB meeting.

 

v      Graphic Design:  Create graphics to brand and market the Heartland CFC Theme used in catalog, newsletters, posters and on the website.

a.      The Team viewed the draft design produced by the USACE and made suggestions. 

b.      Larry will present suggestions to the Cabinet for final decision.

 

v      Flat Stanley Project

o        Cost / Vendor

o        Start photos & script

a.      Michele Nelson provided two websites selling life size stand ups.  The Team reviewed and thought they were a bit pricey and are looking for local sources that might be cheaper.

b.      Larry or Gail will remind the Cabinet that we need people to be a Flat Stanley and provide testimonials.

 

v      Newsletters:  First issue due late May/early June and will focus on Day of Caring recruitment; additional issues each month Aug through Nov during campaign; and a close out issue in Jan

a.      Larry contacted the Chair for Day of Caring and asked for a letter regarding the event and encouraging participation.

b.      Newsletters will start in June with the letter and then a follow up issue after Day of Caring to summarize the event and thank participants.

 v      Web Site:  Redesign current page using 2007 theme and visuals and keep updated during campaign

v      Writing:  Complete research, write stories and speeches, help with proofreading used in all CFC Communications

           Media Liaison:  Establish contacts with local media, used to get information out about the campaign

          Photography:  Take photographs and videos at CFC events and at local charities used in newsletters, on the website and to produce the local film

          Special Events Planner:  Plan employee appreciation outings, build team spirit, celebrate accomplishments

          Federal Employee Appreciation Nights:  (ex: special discounts for federal employees at sporting events) 

          Online Pledging:  Program online pledge card to pilot this year

 

 

2.      Future meetings -- The Team decided to meet on the third Thursday of each month at 10 a.m.
