Welcome & Introduction –Sandra Champion-Jones:

Sandra thanked the cabinet members for being involved in the campaign this year.  Each member in attendance introduced themselves.

 

Labor Cabinet Update – Sandra Champion-Jones:

·         Reported on the Union Partnership Meeting held on April 25th

·         The purpose of the Union Partnership Council is to secure the support of representatives from more than 20 area federal employee unions.

·         Up-dating of the Union Listing is an on-going process

·         Labor Division Co-Chairs with make peer calls on the Bargaining Units in their area.  Labor Co-Coordinators were to be encouraged in all Agency Head Calls

·         Upcoming meeting will take place in July.    

 

  

Agency Head Training & Calls – each Division Chair:      

Each Division was asked to report out on their progress on contacting the Agency Heads in their respective Divisions.

Division 0:

                                    ·          Gary Beets, FMS and Robert Jackson, IRS, are in the process of setting up agency head visits.   They are meeting to go over assignments on Friday.   No visits have been completed as of yet.

                                    ·          Roberta Jackson, IRS, will be the LE for this division.

            Division 1:  

·         Mike Jaromin (DHS-CIS) was unable to attend.  A Loaned Executive has been committed from GSA, but no name has been submitted.

            Division 2:

·         Charlie Garrett (SSA) and Team Leaders from Social Security  & HHS are in the process of setting up agency head visits. 

·         There are three Team Leaders from Social Security and Fred Schuster from Dept of Health & Human Services will be making these calls.  Accounts are divided up and chairs will begin soon.

·         Tina Frymyer (SSA) will be the LE for this division

Division 3:

·         Neither Dennis Johnson (Census) or Sharon Willis (FAA), were available to attend this meeting.  They are getting together the following week to plan strategy and will update the cabinet at the next meeting after that meeting

·     Sharon Willis (FAA) will be the LE for this division.

            Division 4:

·          Randy Hawkinson & Maria Tupac (USDA) are working these accounts.  No visits have been completed as of yet.

·          Maria Tupac (USDA), will be the LE for this division.

Division 5:

·          Wanda Hooks reported that the LE and Chairs will be meeting soon to assign accounts

·          Jeff Beaton, Ed Gorman and Quo Tyler (USPS), will be the LE’s for this division.

 

Division 6:

·          Neither Mike Anthony (USMC) and Dave Rhoades  (USACE) was able to attend the meeting. 

·               They have met, and will be finalizing plans on May 18th.

·          Dave Rhoades (USACE) will be the LE for this division.

 

·                     Spreadsheets for tracking accounts will be sent out for completion by the Division Chairs & Loaned Executives. 

·                     All completed Agency Head Agenda forms should be sent back to Larry.

·                     Goals for each Division and overall CFC goal will be done at the July CFC Cabinet Meeting.

·          Agency Head Call Sheets need to have the campaign coordinator identified by late May/early June.

·          Get commitment from the agency head.

·          Identify agencies who have employees that are retiring, early outs or layoffs.

      An pewter eagle with gold tips was chosen.     

A new level was discussed and decided on.  The Double Eagle “Soaring Eagle Club” for those people who donate at least  $2,000.  They will receive the eagle and a nice rosewood Pen and Pencil set.
 

·         Bids were sent out to secure best pricing.   Orders have been placed for all these items

          Communications –Gail Allen

 

            The Communications Committee met for the second time on May 1st.

We would like to remind the cabinet that “Give a Little…Help A Lot” is our

theme for this year. 

The Committee is working with the US Army Corps of Engineers on designs for the catalog, which when narrowed down will send out to all cabinet members for comment. 

We are awaiting a copy of the national film to determine our local needs. 

Strategies which the communications committee is being built around- Educating the employee base, excite and motivate and focus on the young audience.

There was discussion on the Flat Stanley project.  This is a program where we have cut-out of real people posted 24/7 at federal buidings

                      Eligibility Status –Dennis O’Connell

·         Eligibility Committee has completed its initial reviews for this year.

·         The final review of appeals will be May 22nd.  There is still a possibility of appeals going to OPM in Washington .

·         The order of the federations and local independent organizations will be  randomly drawn

·         This year we had 25 volunteers from various federal agencies served on the committee.

·         This year we had a total of 398 local & statewide agencies approved to be included in the campaign.

P.S.  At the May 22nd Eligibility Meeting, 2 appeals from applications which were not approved, were reviewed again.  All 2 decisions for sustained.  The order of the federations and local un-affiliated was randomly drawn and will be listed in the following order in the 2007 Catalog for Caring.

Events – Larry Hisle:

 ·          Kick-off

·          The Kick-off Committee met on April 25th and are scheduled to meet again on May 22nd. 

·                     We do need to do some recruiting to boost the numbers of volunteers for

this activity.

·                     The planned date for this event is Wednesday, September 19th  once again

at the Ilus Davis Park in downtown Kansas City .  A motion for this date was made by Charlie Garrett and seconded by Tina Frymyer. 

·                     Paige Wymore-Wynn is chairing this committee this year.

·                     The plan is to invite those committee members back who participated last

year, or ask for replacements.  We also will be inviting volunteers from

the federal agencies to participate this year.

·                     More detailed information will be available at the next meeting.

  

·          Golf Tournament

·         CFC Championship Golf Tournament has been scheduled for October 8th

 (Columbus Day).

·         Tim Gosnell form GSA is once again helping us with this.

·         Requests have been sent out to every golf course for the best deal.  Best responses so, Blue Springs Country Club, Country Creek, and Drubs Dread

·         Save-the-date messages will be sent to all campaign coordinators.

·         Currently looking for ideas on incentive items, etc.

·         Tournament will be open to all federal employees.

·         Championship aspect (which was used for last year’s tournament) will be done again this year.

·         Encouraged agencies who host their own golf tournaments to incorporate theirs into CFC’s tournament.

·         More detailed information will be available at the next meeting.

  

·          Training Committee - Recruitment & Workshops – Matt Mitchell

·                     Campaign Coordinator sites have identified 

·                     Two Campaign Coordinator trainings are scheduled for the Kansas City on August 2nd at the Children Center for the Visually Impaired and on August 8th at Alpha Pointe.

·                     A workshop is scheduled for August 15th in Topeka at Let’s Help

·                     Additional trainings are being scheduled for Junction City

·          Campaign Coordinators’ names need to be identified by the end of May/June.

            ·          Will be changing the format on these workshops.   A powerpoint    presentation will be part of the training., as well as a mock rally.

  

LE Training

·          Here are the items that still need to be completed

o       Complete and confirm training locations for Loaned Executive training.

o       Obtain additional trainers.

·          The following Speakers are needed for the LE Training – Sales Training, Communication Skills, and Marketing Skills.

·          Former LE’s will be used as Speakers.

Other Discussion

 Agency Head Breakfast

Reported on Agency Head Breakfast held on May 2nd in Topeka .  Approximately 15 agencies attended to be briefed on the impact and importance of their support to CFC. 

 CFC Regulations Meeting

Continued to up-date cabinet on impact of regulation changes

Day of Caring Update

·          Currently have 56 federal agencies and labor groups at 100 locations volunteering for Day of Caring.

·          Day of Caring is Saturday, June 23rd .

 

CFC Catalog & Materials

The Catalog was discussed and a desicision was made to continue to use a newspaper tabloid lay out instead of the bonded Catalog due to price

The pledge card was discussed and a decision to go back to the 1/3 page vs 1/2 and to retain the cover for the pledge card.

           

Sponsorships for 2007 Campaign

·          Sponsorships are coming along quite well this year.

            Commitments:

·         GEHA to sponsor the CFC Victory Awards Breakfast, and they did respond and agreed.  They upped their gift $500 to $2,500 for this year.  This will allow us to continue to comp the campaign coordinator their breakfast and have an additional breakfast in Topeka

·         A request was sent out to GEICO to sponsor the Cruise Giveaway and Leadership Breakfast, and a query of the Kick-off Breakfast.  They also responded favorably with an increase of $1,000 to a grand total of $4,000 for this year.   The cabinet was asked where to direct these funds towards. 

·    A request has been made to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Greater Kansas City to be a sponsor for an event and they have committed $1,000

·         In addition, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas donated $500 to sponsor the May 2nd Agency Head Breakfast

·          Letters will be sent out to hotels requesting donations for the upcoming campaign.

·                     Cabinet Members are urged to share ideas of possible sponsors for this year

·                     A motion was requested to continue with the Cruise Give-away again for this year.
