THIS WEEK CFC RECOGNIZES
HUNGER AND CLEAN WATER
Food and water are necessities for life, however too many people do not have easy access these basics. Water is a fundamental need for human survival, but according to a global assessment published in July 2017 by the World Health Organization, some 3 in 10 people worldwide, or 2.1 billion, lack access to safe, readily available water at home. This week we bring attention to the cause Hunger and Clean Water.
Here’s how you can make an impact:
- $25 provides one person with access to a safe and clean water supply.
- $85 provides one week of groceries for a four-person family in a metropolitan area.
- $110 can purchase one dozen chickens for a family.
- $500 can erect a spring catchment well to provide clean water to 250 people.
MORE THAN JUST A MEAL
Tim has been a regular volunteer driver for almost ten years for a CFC-supported organization that assists with providing meals for those in need. He delivers on the same route each Wednesday, allowing him to get to know the meal recipients quite well. Earlier this year, Tim was surprised when one of his favorite recipients, Mr. Cook, did not answer the door. He tried calling and did not get an answer. Tim was very concerned, as Mr. Cook had never missed a delivery. He knew that one of the neighbors had a key to Mr. Cook’s home. Together Tim and the neighbor found Mr. Cook in a dire medical situation. Tim stayed with Mr. Cook until the ambulance arrived. Due to Tim’s dedication to the CFC-supported charity and the clients he serves, a life was saved. #ShowSomeLoveCFC
